So as to insure a pleasant expeience, the race organisors have decided to limit the race to the first 360 entrants in 2019
ARTICLE 1 : ORGANISATION
The association GRC organises the Grand Raid des Cathares on 24th, 25th, 26th of Octobre 2019
The participants agree to the race rules and régulations
Race open to all above the age of 20 yo, run as a team or individually within a limited timeframe.
Runners must follow normal road rules
ARTICLE 2 : RACES
The Raid des Bogomiles is a trail race in the department of Aude (11), consists of a loop that starts from the medieval city of Carcassonne. The distance is of 101 km and the positive elevation is 4300m.
Article 2-1 Start
Friday 25 October 2019 at 9 :00am
Article 2-2 Time limits
The time limit to complete the race is of 27h00.
If a runner cannot meet the cut off times in place, he will be disqualified. Any disqualified competitor must give up their race number to the official and get to the closest checkpoint Under their own power.
Article 2-3 Shortcuts
Thanks to a system of shortcuts, the race allows everybody to finish hence giving every runner a finish time.
If competing as team and one of the team member takes one of the shortcuts, the team will not be timed and its member will not have solo times
The organisors are alllowed to impose a shortcut to racers and they deem them to be too fatigued or too slow or if the weather forecast is threatening.
Article 2-4 Race change
- To a race with lower distance – no refund
- To a race with a higher distance – the difference in price between the 2 races will be payable
Article 2-5 Race numbers
Race numbers will be given to races on 13th October in the main hall of the Dome of Carcassonnes (please refer race briefing for more info)
Compulsory equipment check will take place when racers pick up they race number (WARNING – racers must provide their own pins for the race bib)
ARTICLE 4 : Rules and conditions
when signing up to the race, runners agree to the following
♦ RESPECT TO OTHERS
No cheating
Be respectful and courteous to volounteers
Respect the local people
Respect the organisors and its sponsors.
Respect the normal road rules
Respect the instructions by the race staff when crossing roads
♦ BE RESPECTFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Do not litter
Do not run outside of marked trails
Try to car share to get to the race
♦ SHARE & help other runners
Help any other competitor that seem to be in trouble
Team work is of utmost importance for all our team competitors
♦ PUSHING YOUR OWN LIMITS
Be respectful to the race doctors and the deicision they may impose on you
Be aware of your own limits
ARTICLE 5 : MAIN RULES
Article 5-1 SELF SUFFICIENT
This is a semi self sufficient race. No pacer allowed
Article 5-2 CHECKPOINTS
There will be checkpoints along the way (food and drink will be available at the CPS)
Please refer to the race booklet for more information
checkpoints will have the following
hot & cold food, sweet and savoury
beds
doctors, podiatrists, physios
Showers are available at the finish
Support crews will be allowed in some of the checkpoints (as described in the racer booklet)
All racers will be allowed to have drop bags (containing change of clothes) at the main checkpoint in Arques (please refer to the competitor’s booklet)
Organisors of the race take no responsibility for any lost property
Article 5-3 DNF
Except for cause of injury, runners cannot withdraw from the race outside of a checkpoint. They must ensure a race official is being alerted of their decision to withdraw
Racers withdrawing will have the option of being driven back to the race HQ (only available at specific checkpoints as per the competitor race booklet)
Article 5-4 DRUG TESTING
Random drug test will take place during or after the race
Drug testing is compulsory and refusal from a competitor will mean instant disqualification
Article 5-5 RACE MODIFICATION AND CANCELLATION
Race organisors may modify at any time and without warning any of the race and/or checkpoints
In case of sévère thunderstorm or heavy rain, the race start may be delayed or the race cancelled by the race organisors.
Race organisors may also change the cut off times
Article 5-6 INSURANCE
Public liability
The organisation is covered for public liability for the duration of the event
Personal insurance
Each participant must be covered for search and rescue
Such insurance can be purchased from the organisors.
The organisors will not be liable for any incident or theft of personal belongings during the event.
Article 5-7 IMAGE RIGHTS
Tous concurrents renoncent expressément à se prévaloir du droit à l'image durant et après l'épreuve, comme ils renoncent à tout recours à l'encontre de l'organisateur pour l'utilisation faite de son image. (pas sur comment traduire ca)
Article 5-8 REWARDS
A bag with goodies will be offered to each participant. Also a tap beer will be offered when showing your race bib
Article 5-9 DISQUALIFICATIONS
disqualification may occur if any of the following takes place
- missing some compulsory equipment
- Wild Assistance
- Removing or moving course markings during the race
- Not willing to undertake compulsory equipment check
- No race bag
- Not wearing your race bib
- Not meeting the several race cut off times
- Using another mode of transportation than your feet
- Not assisting another racer in distress
- littering
- being agressive towards race organisors or members of the event team
- Not allowing a physical examination by a race doctor
- Physically of mentally not able to continue
- positive drug testing
ARTICLE 6 : RACE RULES
Entries open 4 March 2019
Maximum of 360 participants. Once reached, the entries will be closed and there won’t be a waiting list
To have a valid entry, a racer will have to give the orgnisation a certified copy of a médical certificate stating that they are in good enough health to take on this endeavour.
The certificate must be less than 1 year old from the date of the race
The certificate will have to be sent whilst entering the race online
Medical certificates sent via post (i.e. not online) will not be looked at. They MUST be sent online via the race website.
ARTICLE 7 : COMPULSORY EQUIPMENT
The organisation has the right to check that each competitor carries the listed compulsory equipment at all times.
▪ 2 head lamps with spare batteries
▪ A survival blanket
▪ A whistle
▪ 1.5l of water
▪ food
▪ A rainy garment with hood, raincoat and respirante (Goretex or similar)
▪ A waterproof jacket with hood
▪ A mobile phone in working order
• A Cap or equivalent
▪ A personal tumber
▪ Adhesive elastic band
▪ Pair of gloves
▪ ID
▪ A twinkling red light hung on(collided) behind the bag
FOR HYGIENE REASONS, NO GLASS WILL BE OFFERERS IN THE CHEKPOINTS
HENCE IT BEING IN THE COMPUSSORY EQUIPMENT LIST
If you chose to carry walking sticks, they must be carried for the entire duration of the race
ARTICLE 8 : RACE RULES
Entering the race means acceptance of the race rules
The aim of this event is to promote the region’s treasures and its history
We would like athletes to respect our environment and not litter.
It is compulsory to keep to the marked trails
Each participant must be aware of the difficultis of this event (elevation, distance, darkness…)
A good physical condition and proper préparation is paramount
ARTICLE 9 : PODIUM
The podium will begin on Saturday, October 26st, 2019 at 5:30 pm.
Are rewarded
The absent runners will not receive their trophy and their prize.
ARTICLE 10 : DROITS D’ENGAGEMENT
Depending on when you enter
♦ From 4th March to 4th June 2019
Solo 86 euros
Team 86 euros per member (only 1 timing recorded)
♦ From 5 June to 30 September 2019
Solo 96 euros
Team 96 euros per member (only 1 timing recorded)
If you sign up during thèse dates, you won’t be allowed to Switch events.
If a team member cannot race up to 15 days prior to race day, the other member can Switch to a solo race
Price difference at time of Switch will be payable
A race bib cannot be given away or sold
ARTICLE 11 : CANCELLATION OF AN ENTRY
You have the option to take on a cancellation insurance option for 8 euros at the time entry
Cancellation application will only be valid for the following reasons :
- An accident, a serious illness or the death of the participant
- A serious illness needing time in hopsital or the death of the participant’s relatives
For a serious illness of an accident, a medical certificate will be required
Refund will work as follows
- Prior to 1th June, 90% of the total price (less administration fee) without any specific reason
- Prior to 1th September, 60% of the entry price (less administration fee) if any of the above reasons has occured
- After 1th September, no refund will be allowed
Any refund request must be sent to us by registered mail with the original medical certificate or else by the 31th of October 2019
